Between Realities

Graphic Design
2026

Between Realities is a conceptual book jacket project inspired by Lori Gottlieb's TED Talk How Changing Your Story Can Change Your Life. The goal was to create a book cover for a Gen Z audience that explored how our thoughts and personal narratives shape the way we see ourselves and the world around us. Through two visual concepts, Reflection and Distortion. I explored the relationship between perception, identity, and personal growth using symbolism and surreal imagery.

Concept: Distortion

Inspired by surrealism and Salvador Dalí, this concept explores how our personal narratives can distort the way we experience reality. The exaggerated perspective of the skyscrapers creates a dreamlike sense of disorientation, while the eyes scattered throughout the night sky symbolize self-awareness and the realization that perception isn't always truth. The design encourages viewers to question the stories they tell themselves and how those stories shape their reality.

Concept: Reflection
This concept explores self-reflection as a journey toward understanding one's authentic self. The figure removing her own face reveals an open sky beneath, symbolizing clarity, hope, and the inner identity hidden beneath expectations and emotional masks. Rather than depicting a literal reflection, the design focuses on the emotional process of looking inward and redefining the way we see ourselves.
